Crimson Combat Robotics Startup

Crimson Combat Robotics is an innovative student organization focused on designing and fabricating a 30lb combat robot similar to those seen on BattleBots. Our mission is to enhance our students’ design and teamwork experience while creating a robot capable of inflicting maximum damage on opponents and withstand intense impacts. The design possibilities are endless, with potential features ranging from spinning blades to pneumatic flippers—even flamethrowers!

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be competing in the National Havoc Robot League (NHRL) in Norwalk, Connecticut, a national event that hosts qualifiers leading up to a December championship. We'll face top teams, including Georgia Tech’s Robojackets and groups from Northwestern and MIT, competing at the highest level to advance combat robotics throughout the Southeast. We are the first team in the SEC that will be competing in the 30lb division of this event, with Florida being the only other team that competes here (in the 12lb division).

Our current design focuses on a high-impact spinning weapon system capable of delivering over 6 kilojoules of energy. We’ve secured WEARALLOY 500 steel for this weapon—an advanced, impact-resistant material typically used in demanding applications—thanks to a generous sponsor. This gives us a solid foundation as we gather additional materials to complete the robot.

Your donations will directly fund the high-quality components needed for our robot, such as motors, batteries, and controllers, along with premium materials like titanium and carbon fiber. Our team is skilled with CNC milling, water jet cutting, and wire EDM. These skills will help us construct the best possible design. Combat robotics requires spare parts, so any contribution will help ensure we’re fully equipped to compete.

We’re also building a practice arena with ¾-inch polycarbonate panels and a sturdy steel frame, essential for safe testing. Beyond competition, this arena will allow us to host local high school competitions, creating exciting STEM opportunities in our community.

Your support will empower Crimson Combat Robotics to grow, compete, and inspire future engineers. Thank you for helping us build, battle, and bring innovation to our community!
