Experiential Learning and Community Connections

GivingTuesday is a global movement that inspires generosity, and The University of Alabama is proud to be a part of it! You can join this worldwide celebration of giving by making a gift to support the causes at The University of Alabama that are most meaningful to you.

 One important area is:

Experiential Learning and Community Connections

Assist students with learning through engagement, applying knowledge to real-world situations. Fostering growth, social responsibility & community connections.

You can support programs like:

  • Culverhouse College of Business Alumni and Corporate Relations Gift FundThe Culverhouse Ambassadors are the official student representatives, tour guides, and recruitment agents for the Culverhouse College of Business. Up to 20 members join each academic year following a competitive selections process. These members are recognized as the most qualified undergraduate students in the college. With your support we will be able to assist with continued professional development and philanthropy projects.
  • HES Experiential Learning Endowed Support Fund - This Fund was established as a financial resource for students who might otherwise be unable to take full advantage of these dynamic opportunities. We believe hands-on learning experiences are crucial, offering students a way to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations and deepen their understanding of complex concepts that apply to their chosen field and beyond.
  • Rural Programs Gift Fund - College of Community Health Sciences The Rural Health Leaders Pipeline at the College of Community Health Sciences was created to address the shortage of primary care physicians in Alabama’s rural communities. The pipeline is a sequence of programs from high school through medical school that recruit and assist students from rural Alabama who are interested in health-care careers and working as health-care professionals in rural communities.
  • Social Work DC Fly-In Student Gift FundThe University of Alabama’s School of Social Work’s Policy and Advocacy Fly-In to Washington, D.C., offers students a unique opportunity to engage directly with policymakers and leaders in the field of social work. During this immersive experience, students meet with members of Congress, their staff, and key social work and nonprofit leaders to discuss current social issues, learn about the legislative process, and advocate for policies that align with the values and goals of the social work profession. This hands-on initiative empowers students to deepen their understanding of policy work, gain skills in advocacy, and pitch their own policy ideas to influential leaders in the United States, fostering a practical approach to making a lasting impact on social justice issues.
