Crimson Racing

As Crimson Racing prepares for competition in 2022, we're excited to share our updates and goals for the upcoming year. Crimson Racing is a student design team at the University of Alabama, participating in the Formula SAE competition. Formula SAE challenges teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to design, develop, and compete with formula-style race cars. The competitions give teams the chance to demonstrate and prove both their creativity and engineering skills in comparison to teams from over 120 universities around the world. Since inception, Crimson Racing has successfully competed at both FSAE Michigan and Lincoln, placing 10th overall at Michigan 2019. We need your support to continue our success.

When COVID-19 hit, our team had to stop production of CR20, which was originally meant to compete during the 2020 season. While we were unable to physically work on our car for months, we decided to turn the situation around to our benefit by implementing a 2-year production cycle. Our engineering teams spent the summer of 2020 meeting virtually to design a new car, CR21. Designing of this car was completed at the end of the summer, and our return to campus meant a return to CR20, which finally began running in November 2020. This car is now in the final stages before our competition this May, and we are beginning to work on the physical production of CR21, which will compete next year.

A donation will help Crimson Racing to purchase much needed materials and tools as we begin the manufacturing and assembly phase for CR21. Our goal is to complete CR21 by May 2021, giving us time to adequately test the car before competition in May of 2022.
