Who are we? Named for a longtime faculty member, the Strode Program promotes the study of early modern British literature and culture, including the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. In addition to supporting symposia and lectures by distinguished scholars as well as community performance events, the primary mission of the program is to provide financial support for graduate study at The University of Alabama. This year (2019-2020), the program is celebrating its 30th Anniversary.
What do we need? Graduate students in our program frequently need to travel to archives around the country and in the UK in order to conduct research to complete their dissertations. However, summer support is not currently part of students’ financial packages. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to fund summer research travel for graduate students in the summer of 2020. We have received a generous matching-gift commitment from an anonymous donor in the amount of $4000. All donations (up to a total of $4000) will be matched dollar for dollar, so your contribution will be automatically doubled!
